阿诺德·约瑟夫·汤因比（Arnold Joseph Toynbee，1889—1975），英国著名历史学家，也是20世纪具有国际影响的几位历史学家。毕业于牛津大学。先后任职于牛津大学、伦敦大学和英国外交部等机构，1919年和1946年分别以英国政府代表的身份参加两次世界大战结束后的巴黎和平会议。1926年起担任英国皇家国际问题研究所部长（一直任职到1953年为止）。以《历史研究》为代表的一系列著作为他赢得了世界性声誉，他也因此而被誉为“近世以来伟大的历史学家”。
